The Supper Table-- Episode 4: Jazzish
I’ve been lying to myself for a few days about why I’m late with this post. I’d been telling myself that it was because I needed to concentrate on finishing the second part of my Russiagate take. The two things are mutually exclusivish, I finished the piece with enough time. The difficulty has been the substance of the episode. I’d originally planned on a Jazzish, Funkish, Soulish episode (as if that’s not what I always do) I was moved by the recent discovery of so many performances I didn’t realize were on Youtube, and their effect on my memory of beginning as a college radio station jazz DJ. After arriving at 3Xs the records I needed while considering other records still needed, I decided to focus just on jazz. There's something about focusing on a single genre that leaves me with the feeling that I need to be comprehensive in ways that my usual rando eclectic style does not. Once I recognized the paralyzing effect of approaching the episode like that allowed me to employ my usual Fukit approach. I left out several artists, albums, and songs I wanted to use, but how could I not? There's so much great jazz.
I have now uploaded the full version, and a version for people like me, who listen and wish I'd shut up.
