Episode 2
I feel like I have hit on what I want this podcast to be, even s it continues to evolve: the radio
station that I'd listen to. Typically I find myself bored by both radio stations and dance floors
because they are constrained by genre but my sense of music that is worth exploring and
experiencing is not. One of my favorite dance floors wasBlack Betty in Williamsburg BKLYN
2002-2006. There was a DJ, whose name I should know, who played great dance sets as if
genre was somewhat irrelevant. As someone touched by music across genres, he was the
first best example for me of what it meant to put together the expanse of music you loved with
no regard to genre. He played great sets that sometimes left me temporarily ambivalent but,
overall, incredibly impressed.

I wish to emulate that with less respect to BPM. I want to beat match because I want to hold
onto the skill but more than that I want to create sets of seemingly incongruent music that
feel cohesive because, ultimately, it's just indisputably good music.

Because I own the rights to none of the music the intent with every podcast is to share each
setlist with links to the artists and means of purchasing their music. My only commitment so
far has been that I complete the mix and post it by the first Monday of each month, but will
extend it to the set and the set list, and eventually the links on the first Monday. Not yet.
