It's Music, But You Eat it with Your Ears

I have been kicking around the idea for this blog for a while, focusing on a single artist, band, or album, explaining the musical importance. But it's been done, and honestly it feels a little pretentious, I'm no musicologist, no musical historian, I just know what I like and enjoy sharing it. I also thought that I should offer some context for the music and the musician, offer the music chronologically to show development of the artist, instead I'll just give the music. I can't offer a best of, won't offer a comprehensive look at any important musician, this will just be my favorite artists, bands, album sides, and short mixes served in digestible sizes.

I feel like I have hit on what I want this podcast to be, even s it continues to evolve: the radio station that I'd listen to. Typically I find myself bored by both radio stations and dance floors because they are constrained by genre but my sense of music that is worth exploring and experiencing is not. One of my favorite dance floors was Black Betty in Williamsburg BKLYN 2002-2006. There was a DJ, whose name I should know, who played great dance sets as if genre was somewhat irrelevant. As someone touched by music across genres, he was the first best example for me of what it meant to put together the expanse of music you loved with no regard to genre. For the third episode of The Supper Table I'm serving up a bit of PJ Harvey along with some other reminiscent flavors. Whatever. The food metaphor is goofy. I know it, you know it.
